Greylag goose occupies osprey nesting site at Ammersee
At Ammersee, a greylag goose has occupied a nesting aid intended for ospreys, preventing the birds from successfully breeding this year. This follows a previous season where peregrine falcons occupied the site.
Conservationists from the Landesbund für Vogelschutz (LBV) have been monitoring the situation. To protect the nesting site for ospreys, a tarp was installed in the spring, which initially helped deter peregrine falcons. Despite these efforts, the presence of the geese has disrupted the osprey breeding cycle. Local bird watchers remain optimistic that the ospreys will be able to utilize the site again next year.
