Grey's Anatomy franchise to expand with new Texas-based spinoff

The Grey's Anatomy franchise is expanding with a new spinoff set in rural Texas. The series has received a straight-to-series order from ABC and is scheduled to premiere in midseason 2027.

Shonda Rhimes and Meg Marinis, the current showrunner of Grey's Anatomy, will co-create, write, and executive produce the new series. Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an executive producer. This development follows the success of previous franchise expansions, including Private Practice, Station 19, and the web series Grey's Anatomy: B-Team.
