Grey’s Anatomy showrunner provides update on Texas spinoff

Meg Marinis, the showrunner for Grey’s Anatomy, has confirmed that a Texas-based spinoff of the long-running medical drama is currently in development. The new series, which is expected to premiere during midseason 2027, will be set in rural West Texas and focus on stories and communities unique to that region.

Marinis, who is co-creating the project with Shonda Rhimes, noted that while the spinoff is related to the parent series, the subject matter will differ significantly from the Seattle-based original. Fans can also expect characters from the main series to make appearances in the new show. This marks the third spinoff for the franchise, following Private Practice and Station 19.
