Grigor Dimitrov advances to final US Open qualifying round

Grigor Dimitrov has advanced to the final round of the US Open qualifying tournament following a victory over Kazakhstan’s Timofey Skatov. After an initial dominant 6-0, 6-3 win against Lorenzo Giustino, Dimitrov faced a more challenging match against Skatov, eventually winning 7-6(5), 6-4.

Dimitrov utilized 17 aces and maintained a 68% first-serve percentage to overcome Skatov’s resistance. The win places the Bulgarian one step away from the main draw of the Grand Slam.

His next opponent will be Finland’s Olli Virtanen, who secured his place in the final qualifying round by defeating Jack Draper. The match between Dimitrov and Virtanen is scheduled for Thursday.
