Grigori Sokolov returns to Spain for concerts in Lugo and Santander

Russian pianist Grigori Sokolov is scheduled to perform in Spain after a 20‑year absence. On 7 August 2026 he will play a program centered on Beethoven and Schubert at the Auditorio Fuxan os Ventos in Lugo, Galicia, marking his first concert in the region since 2006. The festival’s organizer notes Sokolov’s meticulous preparation, including adapting to each hall’s acoustics.

Sokolov is also featured in the Festival Internacional de Santander, where his piano recital will include Beethoven’s Sonata No. 4, Schubert’s Bagatelles and other works. The festival’s symphonic programming that week also showcases the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under Daniel Harding and a solo appearance by Daniil Trifonov, highlighting a high‑profile week of classical music in northern Spain.
