Grimhøjmoskeen chairman sentenced for social fraud
Oussama El-Saadi, the chairman of the Grimhøjmoskeen in Aarhus, has been sentenced by the Vestre Landsret to one year and six months in prison for social fraud. The sentence is suspended, with the exception of three months which must be served.
El-Saadi and his cousin were found guilty of falsely claiming to be single to Udbetaling Danmark and Aarhus Municipality. This deception allowed them to receive approximately 738,000 DKK in excess benefits, including housing subsidies and disability pensions, over several years. The High Court upheld the previous ruling from the Aarhus District Court.
While his cousin received a suspended sentence of one year and three months, El-Saadi has consistently denied the allegations. He is also known in Denmark as a controversial figure in debates regarding Islam.
