Grimsby Town Women and Ilkeston Town secure comeback victories

In pre-season football action, Grimsby Town Women secured a 5-3 comeback victory against Leeds Modernians. After an early lead by Abbie Emslie, Leeds Modernians surged ahead to lead 3-1 by the 39th minute. Grimsby responded with goals from Beth Wharton and Brooke Howe to level the score at 3-3. Emslie scored her second goal in the 77th minute, followed by a header from Milly North to seal the win.

In non-league football, Ilkeston Town achieved a late victory over Stockton Town. A goal by Lynden Joyce in the sixth minute of stoppage time, following a long throw-in and a flick-on by Pharrell Johnson, secured the 1-0 win for the home side under new manager Tris Whitman.
