Grindr for Equality pledges 10 million HIV‑prevention links by 2028

At the International AIDS Conference 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Grindr for Equality announced a commitment to connect ten million LGBTQ+ people to HIV‑prevention services by 2028. The pledge is based on the "Closing the Gap" report, which surveyed 18,287 Grindr users in ten countries and found high awareness of PrEP but low usage. In Brazil, 72% of respondents knew about PrEP while only 28% used it; in the United Kingdom, 79% were aware and 35% used it; in India, awareness was 28% with just 7% usage. The report attributes the gap to limited access and diminishing funding for HIV prevention.

Grindr reaches about 15 million users each month across 190 countries and has distributed more than 600,000 HIV self‑test kits since 2022. The platform ran over 1,200 in‑app campaigns in 2025, involving 185 community organisations in 71 countries and 40 languages. Going forward, the app will embed direct links to local HIV‑prevention services—including testing, PrEP, doxyPEP and emerging tools—within the user experience.
