Grindr to acquire telehealth provider Freddie for $250 million
Grindr has announced plans to acquire PurposeMed, Inc., the parent company of the telehealth service Freddie, in a deal valued at approximately $250 million in cash and stock. The agreement includes the potential for an additional $70 million in cash payments contingent upon meeting specific performance goals.
The acquisition aims to integrate sexual health resources directly into the Grindr platform. Through this integration, users may gain access to HIV prevention information, initial health assessments, consultations with healthcare professionals, testing arrangements, and medication delivery, specifically focusing on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
Grindr intends to use this expansion to address the gap in PrEP uptake. While an estimated 2.2 million people in the United States could benefit from the preventative medication, current usage is estimated at roughly 650,000. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending standard regulatory and closing conditions.
