Gritzbach murder trial moved to February 2027

The criminal trial of three Brazilian military police officers accused of executing businessman Vinícius Gritzbach at Guarulhos International Airport on 8 November 2024 has been rescheduled. The new hearing dates are set for 22–27 February 2027 after the initial session on 22 February 2024 was annulled when the defendants' counsel left the courtroom.

Seven of the nine prosecution witnesses were heard on the first day; the trial was slated to last five days and hear a total of 21 witnesses. The accused are Lieutenant Fernando Genauro da Silva, Corporal Denis Antônio Martins and Soldier Ruan Silva Rodrigues. In addition to Gritzbach's killing, they face charges for the death of rideshare driver Celso Novais and injuries to two bystanders from shrapnel.

Gritzbach was under investigation for homicide and for laundering money for the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) criminal organization. He had signed a plea agreement promising to expose criminal syndicates and corrupt police officers.
