Gürkan Güngör produces tile art in home workshop for 20 years

Gürkan Güngör, a 47-year-old artist with a 52 percent physical disability, has been creating tile art in a home workshop in the Fethiye district of Muğla for approximately 20 years.

Güngör began his journey in 2005 after attending a tile painting course organized by the Fethiye Municipality. Supported by his family and instructors, he transformed a room in his house into a dedicated studio where he produces plates, panels, and various decorative objects.

Despite facing mobility challenges and limited use of his hands, Güngör completes small works in about an hour, while larger, more detailed pieces can take between seven and ten days. The craft has provided him with both social engagement and economic benefits through custom orders. Having previously held an exhibition, he now aims to host a second personal showcase of his work.
