Görlitz to launch ‘Görliwood’ film series in 2027

The Filmpalast Görlitz and Europastadt GörlitzZgorzelec GmbH will launch a new film series in January 2027 titled ‘Görliwood im Filmpalast’. The initiative aims to showcase twelve famous films that were filmed, either entirely or partially, in Görlitz.

Scheduled for one screening per month on Fridays at 5:00 PM, the series will begin on January 29, 2027, with ‘Die Vermessung der Welt’. The lineup includes internationally recognized productions such as ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’, ‘Inglourious Basterds’, and ‘The Book Thief’, alongside various German cinematic successes.

The project highlights Görlitz’s reputation as a versatile filming location, where its preserved historical architecture allows the city to represent diverse settings such as Berlin, Paris, or the fictional Republic of Zubrowka.
