Görlitz tourism grows while Zittau sees declines

Tourism data reveals a significant disparity between the German cities of Görlitz and Zittau. In 2025, Görlitz recorded 146,609 arrivals and 340,851 overnight stays, representing a 6.1 percent increase in overnight stays compared to 2024. In contrast, Zittau saw a decline, with arrivals dropping by 7 percent to 25,116 and overnight stays decreasing by 5.4 percent to 57,511.

This difference is largely attributed to the scale of accommodation infrastructure. Görlitz operated 44 accommodation facilities with a maximum of 2,303 guest beds at the end of 2025. Zittau, however, had only 11 facilities providing 514 beds. Despite the difference in volume, the average length of stay remained consistent at 2.3 days for both locations, and bed occupancy rates were similar, with Görlitz at 41.3 percent and Zittau at 40.1 percent.
