Grêmio and Internacional to face off in Copa do Brasil quarterfinals

Grêmio and Internacional are set to face each other in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Copa do Brasil. The matchup carries significant financial implications, as the winner will secure an additional R$ 9 million in prize money from the CBF, bringing their total tournament earnings to R$ 18 million.

Both clubs have accumulated R$ 9 million each thus far in the competition. The first leg of the derby is scheduled for August 27 at the Beira-Rio stadium, with the return leg taking place on September 3 at the Arena.

Abel Braga, technical director of Internacional, noted that the team has shown resilience during a difficult period. He emphasized the cultural importance of the Gre-Nal derby, stating that the match holds special significance regardless of the teams' current standings in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
