Grêmio Esportivo Bagé players assaulted after locker room invasion

A group of approximately 25 individuals invaded the locker room of Grêmio Esportivo Bagé following their 2-0 defeat against Glória in the Campeonato Gaúcho Divisão de Acesso. The incident occurred at Estádio Pedra Moura and resulted in physical violence, with players being subjected to punches and kicks.

According to police reports and player accounts, the attackers also threw chairs and water fountains into the room. Captain and midfielder Julio Rusch reported facial injuries and expressed outrage over the lack of security, stating that while players can accept criticism or defeat, they should not be assaulted for performing their profession. Defender Yander Barbosa described a moment of panic, noting that the group breached the locker room doors within seconds of the players attempting to lock them.

The club, the Gaucho Football Federation (FGF), and players have all issued statements of repudiation regarding the violence. A police report has been filed, and players were scheduled for forensic medical examinations to document their injuries.
