Grêmio integrates youth talent and seeks playmaker under Renato Portaluppi

Grêmio is undergoing tactical and roster adjustments following the return of manager Renato Portaluppi. The club is focusing on integrating youth talent, with 18-year-old attacker João Borne emerging as a standout prospect. Borne, the captain of the U-20 team, has been training with the professional squad and is expected to continue doing so to maintain physical rhythm while still playing matches for the youth side. His current contract runs until 2028, featuring a release clause for international transfers set at 40 million euros.

On the tactical front, Portaluppi is reportedly searching for a traditional number 10 playmaker to fit his preferred formation. During a recent 0-0 draw against Palmeiras, the team utilized a three-center-back system, which left midfielder Krovinović on the bench. Grêmio currently sits in 17th place in the Brasileirão standings, positioned near the relegation zone, as they prepare for an upcoming away match against Remo.
