Grêmio investigates suspected racism during Gre-Nal 455

Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense has launched an investigation into a suspected act of racism during the Gre-Nal 455 derby held at the Arena. The club took action after video footage circulated on social media showing an individual wearing a Grêmio jersey making monkey gestures toward the opposing supporters.

The incident was not recorded in the official match report, and the perpetrator has not yet been officially identified. Philippe Jardim, President of the Grêmio Deliberative Council, has formally requested an investigation by the Ethics and Discipline Commission.

In an official statement, the club confirmed it is working to identify the individual. Grêmio stated that if the person is a club member, they will face preventive suspension and an internal ethical process. The club reaffirmed its anti-racist commitment and pledged to cooperate with authorities.
