Grêmio nears contract renewal with defender Gustavo Martins

Grêmio is moving forward with a contract renewal for 24-year-old defender Gustavo Martins. The new agreement is expected to last for three years, extending his stay with the club beyond his current contract, which expires in December 2027.

Negotiations were intentionally delayed to avoid distracting the team from the upcoming Gre-Nal derby. The renewal comes amid increased market interest in the player, following inquiries from clubs including Santos, Botafogo, Athletico-PR, and an unnamed Portuguese team.

Since joining the main squad under manager Luís Castro, Martins has become a key defensive figure, appearing in 30 matches this year—26 of them as a starter—while contributing three goals and two assists.
