Grêmio owes €1 million on Amuzu deal as Vinícius contract talks intensify

Grêmio is reported to still owe about €1 million (roughly R$5.8‑6 million) to Belgian club Anderlecht for the transfer of Ghanaian striker Francis Amuzu. The original €1.2 million deal, signed in February 2025, was to be paid in installments; €400 000 and €600 000 remain outstanding, though Anderlecht has not yet taken strict enforcement action. The club is also seeking to reduce its wage bill to R$18 million in the coming transfer window.

At the same time, Grêmio’s leading scorer, Carlos Vinícius, is in advanced negotiations to extend his contract beyond the current term that runs to the end of the season. The striker’s automatic renewal clause activates if he plays in at least 60 % of matches, but the club wants a longer‑term deal amid interest from MLS, European, and Saudi teams. Vinícius is currently serving a two‑match suspension that will keep him out of the upcoming South American Cup playoff matches.
