Grêmio player José Enamorado victim of impersonation scam

Grêmio forward José Enamorado was defrauded of R$ 22,500 by an individual impersonating former coach Luís Castro on WhatsApp. The scammer used the coach's photo and a Rio de Janeiro phone number to build trust with the Colombian player, offering tactical advice and promising increased playing time in upcoming matches.

The fraudster used a pretext of purchasing food baskets for a social project to solicit the Pix transfer, instructing Enamorado to maintain absolute secrecy to avoid detection by teammates.

This incident is part of a larger investigation known as 'Operação Falso 9'. In September, police arrested Lucas de Oliveira Eduardo, who is accused of targeting multiple players, including Dodi, Walter Kannemann, and Tetê. The Public Ministry has formally charged the suspect and two women with electronic fraud and criminal association.
