Grêmio and Internacional face decisive Gre-Nal derby in relegation battle

Grêmio and Internacional face each other in a high-stakes Gre-Nal derby this Sunday at the Arena in Porto Alegre. The match, part of the 30th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, is a critical battle for survival as both clubs are currently positioned in the relegation zone. Grêmio sits in 18th place with 30 points, while Internacional is in 17th with 31 points.

Both teams have recently undergone coaching changes, with Renato Portaluppi leading Grêmio and Eduardo Baptista managing Internacional. Grêmio is managing several player availability issues, including defender Wallace, who intends to play despite a nose fracture, and uncertainty regarding the fitness of lateral Marlon.

Authorities have prepared extensive logistics for the event. The EPTC has organized special bus lines and traffic management to accommodate an expected crowd of approximately 53,000 people. Additionally, the Brigada Militar has deployed a reinforced security operation, including officers at Trensurb stations and specialized shock police units, to prevent clashes between rival supporters.
