Grêmio pushes player contract extensions while hunting new main sponsor
Grêmio is using the World Cup break to negotiate contract renewals for key members of its squad. The club is in talks to extend striker and top scorer Carlos Vinícius until 2028, and is also prioritising extensions for former midfielder Pavón, now a right‑back, and forward Amuzu. Management aims to secure long‑term deals for these players while also trimming the wage bill by releasing under‑used talent.
At the same time, Grêmio has been without a master jersey sponsor for six months after terminating its agreement with betting firm Alfa Bet over late payments. The club estimates a loss of about R$ 24.9 million compared with the previous contract. CEO Alex Leitão is pursuing new sponsorships, with talks ongoing with at least five companies and hopes of finalising a deal after the World Cup. Meanwhile, the team has generated roughly R$ 150 million in the first half of the year from other commercial contracts, with Havan on the shoulders and Tintas Coral on the upper front of the kit.
