Górnik Zabrze leads Ekstraklasa as manager enters contract talks

Górnik Zabrze currently leads the Ekstraklasa after nine rounds, holding a three-point advantage over Legia Warszawa. Former Polish international Marek Koźmiński has identified the club as a favorite to win the championship title, noting that while Legia Warszawa and Lech Poznań remain strong competitors, Górnik's current form is significant.

Amid this success, manager Michal Gašparík has confirmed that preliminary discussions regarding a contract extension have begun. Although the 44-year-old Slovakian coach has reportedly received interest from clubs in the United Arab Emirates and other Ekstraklasa teams, he stated, “I would like to stay here,” emphasizing that Górnik Zabrze remains his priority.

Gašparík's tenure has seen notable improvements, including a Polish Cup win and a runner-up finish in the previous season. He also credited the club's financial stabilization efforts as a key factor in the team's ongoing development.
