Grüntenhaus tenants to depart historic Allgäu mountain hotel

Felicitas Deutschkämer and Thomas Sprinkart have announced they will not renew their lease for the Grüntenhaus, a historic mountain hotel located in the Allgäu Alps near Burgberg. After more than three years of operation, the pair decided to step down following the conclusion of their fourth summer season.

In a social media announcement, Sprinkart cited increasing technical and infrastructural challenges that could no longer be reconciled with their business concept as the primary reason for the decision. The duo, who left their previous jobs to take on the hotel in 2023, expressed that the decision was difficult due to their connection to the location and the guests. They are planning a farewell event to mark their departure.

Built in 1854 by Carl Hirnbein, the Grüntenhaus is considered the oldest mountain hotel in the Allgäu Alps. Situated at an altitude of 1,535 meters, the establishment has served hikers and travelers for over 170 years.
