Grobogan selected as national soybean pilot project

Grobogan Regency has been designated as a national pilot region for soybean development to boost domestic production and reduce import dependency. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alim Setiawan Slamet inspected a soybean planting movement in Jatiharjo Village, Pulokulon District, on November 3, 2026.

National soybean demand is estimated at 2.6 to 2.7 million tons per year. As of November 2026, imports have reached 1.9 million tons and are projected to rise to between 2.5 and 2.6 million tons by year-end. To address this, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to provide seed and fertilizer assistance for 50,000 hectares of land this year.

The initiative involves collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Grobogan Regency Government, the Central Java Provincial Government, PT Pupuk Indonesia, and academic institutions. Gadjah Mada University (UGM) is contributing approximately 2,000 personnel to support the implementation of Smart Eye Culture Enterprise (SAYE) agricultural technology.
