Grok AI integration into XChat to impact group chat encryption

SpaceXAI and X are testing the integration of Grok AI bots into XChat, moving the service toward a more unified experience. The update aims to allow users to access existing bots, create new ones, and sync conversation histories between Grok.com and X directly within the chat interface.

However, the integration into group chats introduces significant privacy implications. While X Chat conversations are typically end-to-end encrypted, adding Grok to a group chat removes this encryption. Once the AI is included in a conversation, the messages sent during that session are no longer protected by end-to-end encryption. Removing the bot from the chat does not retroactively encrypt the messages sent while it was a participant.
