Groningen Airport Eelde airline receives warning for route deviation
The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) has issued a warning to an airline following an unauthorized departure route deviation at Groningen Airport Eelde. The incident occurred during a monitoring period between April 1 and October 31, 2025.
During an investigation of 65 flights that deviated from standard routes, the ILT determined that one pilot departed from the assigned path without authorization from Air Traffic Control Netherlands (LVNL) and without weather-related justification. Such routes are strictly regulated to minimize noise disturbance for local residents.
Despite this single violation, the airport remained within established noise limits during the period. The inspectorate also reviewed 229 flight movements occurring after 23:00, noting they were all permitted for emergency, rescue, or medical purposes. Additionally, five complaints regarding circuit flights were investigated, but no violations of aviation laws or airport decrees were found.
