Groningen athletes claim three gold medals at Dutch Athletics Championships

At the Dutch National Athletics Championships in Hengelo, three athletes from the province of Groningen secured gold medals. Discus specialist Jorinde van Klinken won her sixth national discus title with a championship record of 65.12 m, while also taking silver in the shot put. Jetske van Kampen, a 27‑year‑old biotechnologist, captured the 3,000 m steeplechase title in her third appearance in the event. Nick Marsman secured his fourth consecutive national title in the steeplechase.

The competition was hampered by cold, windy, and rainy conditions, which also affected the shot‑put segment. Bronze medals went to Bjorn van Kins in the shot put and to Sofie Dokter, the indoor pentathlon world champion, who placed sixth in the 100 m hurdles. The athletes now look ahead to the European Championships in Birmingham in August.
