Gros-Morne church receives 350,000 euros for restoration

The Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation church in Gros-Morne, Martinique, has received 350,000 euros from the Fondation du Patrimoine to begin essential security works. The municipality was named the winner of the Martinique 2026 prize.

Built in 1743, the historic building has been closed to the public since 2009 due to safety concerns following a 2007 earthquake. While the newly allocated funds will allow for the first phase of site securing, they do not cover the full cost of the extensive restoration project required to return the landmark to use.
