At least 11 people were killed in Haiti's central Artibonite region following a retaliatory attack by gang members. The violence occurred in the Dosny area of Gros-Morne after a security operation conducted by the UN-backed Gang Suppression Force.

The operation, which involved a Sri Lankan unit, targeted gang members who had established illegal toll points. While the security force reported killing three gang members during the intervention, the subsequent gang reprisal resulted in civilian deaths and the burning of homes. Local officials, including Mayor Hubert Ceneac, noted that the gang involved, Kokorat San Ras, maintains a stronghold in the area.

The security situation in Haiti continues to deteriorate as gangs expand their influence beyond Port-au-Prince. The mandate for the Gang Suppression Force is scheduled for a UN Security Council vote this week to determine if its operations will be extended.
