Gross-Rosen Museum commemorates 87th anniversary of WWII outbreak

Commemorative ceremonies were held at the Gross-Rosen Museum in Rogoźnica to mark the 87th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II and to honor its victims. The event began with a Mass at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, followed by a procession to the Monument-Mausoleum where a memorial roll call and the laying of wreaths took place.

Among the attendees was 100-year-old former Gross-Rosen prisoner Ignacy Kurczyński. The ceremony included veterans, combatants, soldiers, clergy, and local officials. According to museum staff, approximately 125,000 prisoners passed through the main camp and its branches, with documented deaths totaling about 40,000 people.
