Grosseto fire department boosts summer coastal and island rescue stations

With the start of the summer season and a surge in tourist numbers, the provincial command of the Vigili del Fuoco in Grosseto has expanded its urgent technical rescue network. Seasonal water‑rescue posts have been opened at the coastal towns of Scarlino and Orbetello to provide rapid assistance for residents and visitors along the shoreline.

The rural fire‑prevention unit in Ansedonia has been reinforced with five specialized Antincendi Boschivi (AIB) teams to address the heightened risk of forest fires. In addition, the seasonal detachment on the Isola del Giglio has been re‑activated, ensuring immediate response capability on the island during peak visitor periods. The enhanced system will remain operational throughout the summer and follows a national plan to adapt rescue services to areas with increased population and seasonal emergencies.
