Grosseto police investigate man found dead near Misericordia Hospital

Authorities in Grosseto are investigating the death of a man found on Friday, October 9, in the grass near the Misericordia Hospital. The victim, a man born in 1972, was discovered on a path connecting the hospital parking lot to Via della Serenissima.

Police and forensic teams recovered a knife near the body, which has led investigators to consider both homicide and suicide as potential theories. While the presence of the weapon might suggest suicide, the prosecutor's office has not ruled out foul play. Preliminary findings suggest the cause of death may have been a stab wound to the chest area, resulting in near-immediate death. The victim reportedly had a long-term illness, though officials state this does not clarify the circumstances of the incident.

An autopsy has been ordered by Public Prosecutor Mauro Lavra to determine the exact cause and dynamics of the death. No signs of sudden braking or blood traces were reported on the adjacent roadway.
