Grosseto residents protest residential development on green space

In Grosseto, residents of the Pizzetti district are protesting a proposed urban planning variance that would replace a planned sports green area with three residential buildings. More than 600 citizens have signed a petition titled ‘Valorizziamo via Edgardo Sogno: un parco pubblico attrezzato per il quartiere Pizzetti’ to oppose the development.

The protesters have addressed a letter to all city councilors, questioning the municipality's urban vision and the impact of land consumption. They argue that shifting construction from via de’ Barberi to via Edgardo Sogno will not resolve local congestion issues but will instead sacrifice essential public space. A city council meeting is scheduled for October 26 to decide the future of the area.
