Grosseto road crash kills driver and injures child

In the early hours of the morning, around 6 a.m., a car left the provincial road "Strada della Trappola" near Grosseto, Italy, and rolled into a ditch. The 34‑year‑old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a girl of about six to seven years old was rescued by fire‑fighters, transferred by ambulance to Meyer Hospital in Florence and, according to initial reports, did not face life‑threatening injuries.

Rescue services that attended the scene included the provincial fire brigade, an ambulance from the local auto‑medical service, a Red Cross nurse‑ambulance and the Carabinieri, who are now conducting investigations to determine the cause of the crash.
