Grosseto rolls out BEST in Maremma contest and Dog Beach activities

The annual BEST in Maremma 2026 contest, promoted by Il Giunco.net, entered its final nomination phase on 31 July. Readers could nominate local businesses—restaurants, pizzerias, gelaterias, bakeries, hairdressers, beauty centres, street vendors and beach clubs—until 15:00 CET. The shortlist will be voted on via a WhatsApp channel from 2 to 31 August, with winners announced at a local ceremony.

Separately, the Comune di Grosseto’s Dog Beach program scheduled two August events on Marina di Grosseto. On 8 August a “First Aid on the Beach” session will be led by veterinarian Elisa Granatelli, and on 16 August a “Games under the Umbrella and Water Activities” workshop will involve canine educators. Mayor Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna and environmental assessor Erika Vanelli highlighted the initiative as a way to promote animal welfare and responsible beach use.
