Grottaglie police arrest 38‑year‑old after gun threat at bar

The Italian State Police in Grottaglie detained a 38‑year‑old man known to law‑enforcement after he pointed what appeared to be a pistol at the owner of a city‑center bar. The suspect was driving a black SUV when citizens reported him threatening the proprietor.

Police intercepted the vehicle on a busy road, pursued it after the driver accelerated, and located the man a few minutes later inside a nearby pub. Officers recovered a replica firearm lacking a safety cap. The suspect behaved aggressively toward officers, continued to insult and threaten them at the police headquarters, and made self‑harm gestures before being taken into custody and transferred to the Taranto prison.
