Grottole recovers over 152,000 euros from Ministry of Interior

The Municipality of Grottole has recovered 152,675.65 euros from the Italian Ministry of the Interior. The funds relate to the 2019 balance of the SPRAR project (System for the Protection of Asylum Seekers and Refugees), specifically project number 342.

The payment follows the conclusion of financial and accounting audits covering the years 2014 to 2019. While the Ministry identified 265,504.26 euros in eligible expenses for 2019, the final disbursed amount was adjusted to 152,675.65 euros following identified cuts during the verification process. The municipality collected the funds on October 27, 2026.

Mayor Filippo Carretta described the recovery as a significant result for the municipality’s financial management, noting that the funds belong to a project concluded several years ago.
