Grovfjord Mek. Verksted 2. 0 to build catamaran for Scottish aquaculture

Grovfjord Mek. Verksted 2. 0 (GMV) has secured a contract to build a new service catamaran for the Shetland-based company Ocean Farm Services. The vessel, measuring approximately 14.99 meters in length and 10.4 meters in width, is specifically designed for the Scottish aquaculture industry, with a primary focus on cleaning fish farming nets.

The catamaran is being custom-developed to handle the demanding and exposed weather conditions typical of Shetland operations. Design priorities include operational efficiency and improved living and working conditions for the crew.

This contract represents a significant milestone for Grovfjord Mek. Verksted 2. 0, marking its first delivery to the aquaculture sector outside of Norway. Ocean Farm Services noted that the decision to use this shipyard was influenced by their positive experience with a previously owned sister vessel built by GMV.
