Gürsel Tekin links poverty to corruption in Turkey

CHP Turkey Coordinator Gürsel Tekin stated that widespread poverty in a country is an indicator of significant corruption. Speaking at the CHP Üsküdar District Presidency, Tekin addressed the recent legal situation involving Sinem Dedetaş, the former Mayor of Üsküdar, who was released under house arrest after being detained for 90 days.

Tekin criticized the detention of elected officials, arguing that such actions represent a usurpation of the people's will. He also commented on internal party discussions regarding Özgür Özel, suggesting that recent legal challenges against the leadership constituted a nullification of the party's historical will rather than a removal of its members.

Additionally, Tekin expressed support for the demands of approximately four million citizens seeking phased retirement, noting that workers, peasants, and retirees have high expectations for leadership regarding these economic issues.
