Grubori commemoration held for civilian victims of Operation Storm

The Serbian National Council (SNV) and the Council of the Serbian National Minority of Šibenik-Knin County organized a commemoration in the Grubori hamlet near Knin for civilian victims killed during and after Operation Storm.

Milorad Pupovac, president of the SDSS and Member of Parliament, stated that the killings in Grubori were committed by members of the Croatian police. He noted that while both the Zagreb County Court and the Hague Tribunal established that crimes were committed, most responsible parties did not face consequences, with only two exceptions. Pupovac expressed regret that the state has failed to achieve full justice for Serbs in Croatia.

Anja Šimpraga, Vice President of the SNV, emphasized that all innocent victims deserve dignity and justice regardless of nationality. She noted that while some house renovations in the hamlet have been completed following government decisions, the broader processes of reconciliation have stalled. She called for political efforts to avoid returning the Croatian and Serbian people to old divisions.
