Grue, Norway: Wedding guests injured in bridge collapse

Seven people were injured on Saturday afternoon when a wooden bridge collapsed during a wedding celebration in the Grue municipality of Norway. The incident occurred at the Gruetunet open-air museum, owned by the Norwegian Museum of Forest Finns, shortly after a wedding ceremony had concluded.

Approximately 20 wedding guests, including the newlyweds, were standing on the wooden structure leading to a historic barn to take a group photograph when the bridge gave way. Witnesses reported that people were left lying on top of one another amidst the debris.

Emergency services responded to the scene, transporting four individuals to a hospital in Kongsvinger. One person was airlifted by helicopter to a medical facility in Oslo; however, police later reported that the patient flown to Oslo did not sustain serious injuries.

Anders Jan Larsson, a museum director, stated that the three load-bearing beams supporting the bridge were completely rotten, which contributed to the collapse. Norwegian police have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident.
