Grupo Cantares performs Bel Canto concert in Coalcomán, Michoacán

The university ensemble Grupo Cantares of the University of Colima traveled five hours by road to Coalcomán de Vázquez Pallares, Michoacán, to take part in the patron saint festivities of Santiago Apóstol. Directed by Maestro Jaime Ignacio Quintero Corona, the group performed a Bel Canto program for more than 400 attendees inside the parish of Santiago Apóstol.

The repertoire featured works such as “Íntima” (Ignacio Fernández Esperón), “Lamento Gitano” (María Grever), “Cuerdas de mi guitarra” (Agustín Lara), “Venecia sin ti” (Charles Aznavour) and “Quizás, quizás” (Osvaldo Farrés). Parish priest Jorge Luis Martínez publicly thanked the performers and the local organizers, including rector Christian Torres Ortiz Zermeño and Technological Institute director Ramiro Godínez. After the concert, the singers toured traditional sites in the town and shared a meal with community members.
