Grupo Eroski reports higher profits and significant food waste reduction in H1 2026
Spanish cooperative Grupo Eroski reported a 3.8% increase in gross revenue for the first half of the 2026 fiscal year, reaching €3.06 billion. Net profit for the period from February 1 to July 31 rose to €65.4 million, up from €55.5 million in the previous year. This growth was driven by increased demand for affordable products and private labels as consumers became more price-conscious.
In conjunction with its financial performance, Eroski reported preventing more than 14,000 tonnes of food waste during the same period. Through a strategy involving discounts, donations, and partnerships with food recovery platforms like Too Good To Go, the company saved 12,141 tonnes of food, which is equivalent to approximately 48 million meals. Additionally, 2,664 tonnes of food no longer fit for human consumption were repurposed for animal feed.
