Grupo Globo announces major restructuring and executive departures

Grupo Globo has announced a major organizational restructuring involving significant changes to its senior leadership. Three high-level executives are departing the company: Manuel Belmar, director of Digital Products, Finance, Legal, and Infrastructure; Manuel Falcão, director of Brand and Communication; and Pedro Garcia, director of Rights Acquisition.

During an internal meeting, João Roberto Marinho clarified that the decision to renegotiate the 2026 World Cup broadcasting rights—a move that led to Globo securing only half of the matches—was made by the Group's Board of Directors rather than individual executives. This decision follows competition from digital platforms like CazéTV, which acquired rights to all 100 matches.

The new structure aims to increase agility and digital integration. Key changes include the creation of an integrated Consumer, Marketing, and Brand area, as well as the unification of management for TV Globo and Estúdios Globo under Amauri Soares to align strategy and content creation.
