Globo announces major restructuring and executive leadership changes
Globo has announced a major corporate restructuring aimed at accelerating its digital transformation and integrating artificial intelligence into its business operations. The reorganization involves the creation of 11 new directorates, including a new Consumer and Marketing division, and the unification of TV Globo with Estúdios Globo.
The restructuring includes significant leadership changes. Three high-level executives are departing: Manuel Belmar (Digital Products, Finance, Legal, and Infrastructure), Manuel Falcão (Brand and Communication), and Pedro Garcia (Acquisition and Rights). Belmar will begin a transition period that is expected to conclude in the first quarter of 2027, during which he will remain in charge of Finance and Shared Services. Júlia Rueff has been appointed to lead Digital Platforms.
Company leadership, including President Paulo Marinho and Chairman João Roberto Marinho, stated that these moves are driven by evolving market habits and consumer consumption patterns. They explicitly denied rumors that the executive departures were linked to the company's recent decisions regarding the 2026 World Cup broadcasting rights, asserting that such major decisions are handled exclusively by the Group's Board of Directors.
Additionally, the broadcaster is looking toward future programming shifts. This includes conducting large-scale audience research to determine a new Sunday variety program format and exploring potential changes to its afternoon programming lineup for 2027.
