Grupo México and BlackRock subsidiary merge energy assets

Grupo México has completed the merger of its power generation assets with Saavi Energía, a company owned by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a subsidiary of BlackRock. The transaction creates a major private electricity provider in Mexico with a combined installed capacity of 4,510 megawatts (MW) across 14 strategically located power plants.

Under the terms of the deal, Grupo México holds a 70% stake in the new consortium, while GIP retains 30%. The merger follows an $880 million investment by Grupo México to finalize the transaction. In addition to the current operational capacity, the new entity manages a growth pipeline of approximately 5,000 MW of potential projects.

The partnership aims to address rising energy demand in Mexico and establishes a long-term collaboration between Grupo México and GIP to identify further infrastructure and energy investment opportunities within Mexico and other countries in the Americas.
