Dominican Republic political and corporate leadership shifts
Several significant leadership changes have occurred across the Dominican Republic's political and business sectors.
In the political sphere, Federico Antún Batlle (Quique Antún) has been re-elected as president of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) for the 2026-2030 term. During the Tácito Perdomo National Ordinary Convention, Antún Batlle outlined a strategic goal for the party to recover double-digit electoral support by the 2028 elections through institutional renewal and territorial strengthening.
Simultaneously, Carolina Mejía, a presidential aspirant for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), has formalized her political structure in San Cristóbal. Her campaign, titled 'Proyecto Carolina 2028', has established commands across eight municipalities and nine municipal districts within the province, securing support from 15 of the 17 local PRM presidents.
In the business sector, Grupo Popular announced a transition in its Board of Directors. Manuel Grullón has been designated 'Presidente Ad Vitam' of Grupo Popular, S.A., in recognition of his leadership. Manuel Grullón Hernández has been appointed as the new President of the Board of Directors, a role he assumes while maintaining his position as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Banco Popular Dominicano.
