Grupo Ricoy declared bankrupt by court amid R$ 461 million debt

A court in São Paulo has declared the bankruptcy of Grupo Ricoy, a major supermarket group that once operated 96 stores across more than 70 municipalities and employed 5,000 people. The decision follows the rejection of a judicial recovery plan by creditors during an assembly in July.

The bankruptcy affects 33 companies linked to the group, including the Vencedor Atacadista brand, holdings, and distributors. The group faces debts exceeding R$ 461 million, involving 4,671 mapped creditors. The court has transitioned to a process for the collection and sale of assets to settle these debts.
