Grupo SHC files for judicial recovery amid JAC Motors debt
Grupo SHC, the official representative of JAC Motors in Brazil, has filed for judicial recovery for the second time. The request involves approximately R$ 239.5 million in debt spread across 44 companies within the conglomerate led by businessman Sergio Habib.
The filing follows unsuccessful attempts to renegotiate directly with creditors. Financial institutions and funds have reportedly faced significant difficulties in locating and reclaiming vehicles that were provided as collateral in financing contracts.
This financial instability coincides with a sharp decline in JAC Motors' commercial performance in Brazil. According to Fenabrave reports, the brand saw a 51.1% drop in registrations for automobiles and light commercial vehicles between 2024 and 2025, contrasting with the overall growth of the Brazilian automotive market. This second attempt at judicial protection comes shortly after the conclusion of a previous restructuring process that ended in May 2025.
